Description of Toolroom Grinding

Toolrooms are found in almost all manufacturing plants. Sometimes know as, such as storeroom, machine shop, or repair shop, and is defined by the maintenance and repair of the cutting tools used in manufacturing operations.

Types of toolroom grinding:

  • Tool and cutter grinding – milling cutters, reamers, end mills, etc.
  • Surface grinding – generally wheels 14" diameter and smaller.
  • Cylindrical grinding – generally wheels 16" diameter and smaller.
  • Internal grinding.
  • Drill grinding.
  • Offhand grinding with mounted wheels and grinding of lathe and planer tools.
  • Cutting-off of drills and reamers.
